Episode 70: Special Guest, Sophie Broadgate (Autistic Writer, Director and Filmmaker)

Sophie Broadgate is an Autistic Writer, Director and Filmmaker based in Cumbria and Manchester. Sophie's work spans across Narrative, Documentary and Art Film. She started her career in production, working as a Production Assistant and independent Producer. As a Producer she has seen her work screen at BFI Flare, Queer Lisboa and Palace International film festival and soon at the BIFA Manchester film festival.  Over time Sophie has transitioned to work more as a Writer / Director, focusing on personal subjects. Her debut short film “The Water Tower” was developed through “Lost Stations”, a residency programme for artists with Cumbrian roots. The film was produced independently and self funded, later receiving a grant for festival distribution. Sophie is currently developing a slate of short films with the aim of moving into features and has been working on addressing accessibility in the film industry for autistic people.
