Jury deliberating in Derek Chauvin murder trial

Jurors have been sent to deliberate in the trial of former Minneapolis Police offer Derek Chauvin after 45 witnesses were called over three weeks of testimony. During the state’s closing argument, one of the prosecutors said Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd’s neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds because of his pride and his ego. Meanwhile, the defense told the jury Chauvin acted as a “reasonable officer.” Floyd family attorney Benjamin Crump tells Anderson Cooper he thought the state’s closing arguments were “very persuasive.” Plus, the U.S. has reported at least 50 mass shootings since the Atlanta spa shootings on March 16. Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy has been advocating for gun reform since the horrific Sandy Hook shooting that took the lives of 26 people, including 20 children. He joins AC360 to discuss where gun control legislation stands in Congress.  Airdate: April 19, 2021   Guests: Benjamin Crump Sen.
