AOMW 034 – The Science of Money Therapy with Edward Coambs

Art of Abundance with Leisa Peterson - En podcast af Leisa Peterson

Today’s guest is financial therapist Edward Coambs and if you’re thinking you’ve never heard of a financial therapist before, you probably aren’t alone.  Not only that, it turns out there’s even an association (Financial Therapy Association) for people like us who focus on helping our clients with the emotional side of money.   How cool is that? Especially since money is often cited as the top cause of marital problems. Having worked with money for a long time, I deeply value the importance of this growing area of therapy and knew you would love learning more about how Ed helps his clients heal their money stuff. As a marriage and money therapist, Ed Coambs helps couples to really listen and talk with each other about the role and use of money in and through their marriage. He started his career as a professional firefighter where he loved helping people in crisis. Ed eventually transitioned from working as a firefighter to working at Vanguard Mutual Funds where he saw first hand the importance of proper financial planning. This led him to earn his Certified Financial Planner designation. After closely watching both personally and professionally how people interact with money, Ed identified a huge need to bring the understanding of counseling and psychology to financial planning. This insight changed the course of his work and led him to become a marriage counselor. Ed now enjoys helping couples find common ground in their finances so that they can fully flourish in life together. You can learn more about ed at www.marriageandmoneymatters.com I can’t wait to hear what you think about our enlightening conversation where we talk about how financial therapy works, how therapists and coaches can work together to support clients needs, and some of the challenges that come when helping people with the emotional side of money.
