Angry Grandpa was born Charles Marvin Green Junior, on October 16th, 1950. He grew up in the Sherwood Forest neighbourhood of Charlestown, South Carolina. His mother was Dorothy Meyers green, and his father, Sgt Charles Marvin Senior, was a World War two veteran. He also had an older sister, Charlene.
