Show from 1/5/24 Hosts Jeremy Schwartz and Professor Siegel start the year off by reviewing the holiday market. The Prof explains productivity growth as the difference between inflation and wage increases. He notes that next week's reports will give a better look into how inflation is doing currently, but everything looks positive. Kevin joins as co-host to ask the Prof about the current job market.The Prof finishes by giving us his prediction for the 10 year. (14:59) Chris joins Jeremy and Kevin to talk about the interesting opportunities in the private credit space. Chris explains how credit is becoming its own distinct asset class. Jeremy asks Chris to break down for the average investor where the yields would be on the index. Kevin and Jeremy bring up commercial real estate, mortgage rates and whether people should be concerned. Kevin gives us insight into how the portfolio reflects the risks of credit and the current market. Guest: Kevin Flanagan serves as Head of Fixed Income Strategy as part of WisdomTree’s Investment Strategy group. In this role, he contributes to the asset allocation team, writes fixed income-related content and travels with the sales team, conducting client-facing meetings and providing expertise on WisdomTree’s existing and future bond ETFs. In addition, Kevin works closely with the fixed income team. Chris Acito founded Gapstow in 2009 and is responsible for managing all client engagements. Prior to Gapstow, Chris was the Global Chief Operating Officer for Investcorp’s Hedge Fund Group, which allocated $8.5 billion in client and proprietary capital. Prior to Investcorp, Chris enjoyed a ten-year career as a management consultant, beginning with Booz Allen & Hamilton's Banking & Capital Markets practice. In 1998 he joined John Casey, Kevin Quirk, and others to build a business strategy consulting firm which focused exclusively on the global investment management industry. Chris began his career as an economist. He served on the President's Council of Economic Advisers in both the GHW Bush and Clinton administrations, where his areas of expertise were financial markets and macroeconomic policy. He was also the Managing Director of the Center for Population Economics, a Chicago-based group dedicated to researching issues in health economics under the direction of Nobel Prize winner Robert W. Fogel. Chris holds a BA in Economics from Duke University and an MA in Economics from the University of Chicago. He is Board Chair Emeritus Trustee of The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. Chris serves on the investment committees of Peddie and The New York Community Trust. Mr. Schwartz joined WisdomTree in May 2005 as a Senior Analyst, adding to his responsibilities in February 2007 as Deputy Director of Research and thereafter, from October 2008 to October 2018, as Director of Research and from November 2018 to November 2021 as Global Head of Research. Prior to joining WisdomTree, he was head research assistant for Professor Jeremy Siegel and in 2022 became his co-author on the 6th edition of the book Stocks for the Long Run. Mr. Schwartz also is co-author of the Financial Analysts Journal paper, What Happened to the Original Stocks in the S&P 500? He received his B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and hosts the Wharton Business Radio program Behind the Markets on SiriusXM 132. Mr. Schwartz is a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia.
