Bside Incoming: Waxist

The 4th instalment of 'Bside incoming' (where DJs who cant come to Scotland to record the mix live and so send in their mixes) is supplied by French DJ/record collector - Waxist. As always on the show, the DJ can only play tracks from the B-side of their favourite records. Hailing from Lyon, Waxist is renowned internationally for his collection of disco/soul/boogie, his slick mixing, as well as his house edits of classic disco tracks. This vinyl lover brings us a selection of the sexiest sounds of soul, a few flashes of club ready house, and a dose of rhythmic funk which is guaranteed to brighten up your day. A special shout out to the second song of the mix: Straight Jacket’s “Greatest Part of Loving” from a re-release on the ever-exciting local label Athens of the North. With almost one million views on YouTube, his edit of Lamar Thomas - “feel so good inside” is a peak time disco banger. With similar views, his edit of Painel De Controle - “Relax” is a soothing soulful track with some crazy vocals showing his love for latin disco.
