Syd also talks about how to set yourself up to be a strong session stylist by sharing his experiences from his first apprenticeship at Nicky Clarke to working with the likes of Gucci and models such as Kendall Jenner. The negative impact of the pandemic on students and those aspiring to a career in the beauty industry has been huge. Many in the industry have been furloughed or laid off, while those studying for a career in the beauty industry have had to continue their studies online. Universities and colleges across the UK are planning to deliver a virtual curriculum, with little if any face-to-face contact. This will make motivation more challenging, particularly with less exposure to industry guest lecturers, who normally provide inspiration to students during their studies.In response to these issues, the British Beauty Council is launching a podcast series featuring interviews with some of the biggest names in the hair and beauty industry to discover how they have got to where they are today.
