About the author: Salvatore Babones is an Adjunct Scholar at the Centre for Independent Studies and an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. An expert on globalisation and China, he is an elected member of the National Committee on US-China Relations and writes a column on Indo-Pacific affairs for Foreign Policy magazine.
