On this episode of The Deep Cut, host John Rocha welcomes famed producer Hawk Koch to talk about his new memoir ‘Magic Time’, shooting Chinatown, and to get his thoughts on the Cinema vs Streaming debate. Koch’s producing resume includes such films like Heaven Can Wait, The Keep, Wayne’s World, Primal Fear, Keeping the Faith and Source Code. He’s also been the assistant director on such classics like Chinatown, The Way We Were, Marathon Man, and The Parallax View. He’s also a former head of the Academy of Motion Pictures of Arts and Sciences and the former head of the Producer’s Guild of America. Hawk’s memoir focuses on his experiences as he moved up the chain in the business of Hollywood and what it was like to be on the sets of some of these famous movies. But the central focus of the memoir is Koch coming to terms and negotiating the troublesome yet loving relationship he had with his father. It’s truly one of the most unique and vulnerable Hollywood memoirs that you’ll ever read. Rocha and Koch discuss all of this and debate the cinema vs streaming battle that is happening in the business now. It’s another wide open, fun and in-depth conversation with an accomplished and supremely talented guest on The Deep Cut.
