Wavy Gravy
Comes A Time - En podcast af Comes a Time - Tirsdage
This week on Comes A Time Mike and Oteil sit down with a hippie icon and a legend of the counterculture movement- the one and only Wavy Gravy! You’ll hear Wavy tell the guys about his friendship with Bob Dylan when they lived atop the Gaslight Cafe in New York City, opening for John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk, and taking walks with Albert Einstein. The guys also discuss Wavy’s Seva Foundation which helps develop self-sustaining programs that preserve and restore sight for the blind, the early days of the Grateful Dead, and Wavy’s circus and arts summer camp, Camp Winnarainbow. Wavy Gravy is an American entertainer and peace activist best known for his role at Woodstock, as well as for his contributions to the counterculture movement in the 1960s. But these accolades barely scratch the surface in telling the whole story about the positive impact that he’s had on the planet. Along with Jahanara, his wife of over fifty years, Wavy has brought joy and helped to relieve suffering for countless people around the globe, largely through his favorite projects- the Seva Foundation and Camp Winnarainbow. Wavy has been called “clown prince of the counterculture” by Entertainment Weekly, “a saint in a clown suit” by Bob Weir, and “the illegitimate son of Harpo Marx and Mother Teresa” by Paul Krassner. Tune in to hear all about the wondrous life and creative activism of Wavy Gravy! ----------- *DISCLAIMER: This podcast does NOT provide medical advice.
