Juneteenth

On June 17th, 2021, Juneteenth became a U.S. federal holiday. It commemorates June 19th, 1865, when slaves in Texas were told of their freedom, two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. In this ABC News Special, hosted by Jamia Pugh, we celebrate Juneteenth, by exploring the meaning and history of the holiday. From Tulsa to Texas, we tell stories of resilience, and what it means to be a part of a community. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
