This year the use of the term UGC has skyrocketed in the marketing world. If you haven't heard of it before, UGC stands for user generated content. Typically this has referred to brand-specific content made on social media by customers. For example, I bought a new handbag this year from one of my favourite brands, Strathberry, and I posted a little unboxing on Youtube shorts. This isn't a sponsorship, I'm just a customer sharing what I bought. Brands have long known the power of this kind of marketing. It feels like modern day referrals. But this year we have seen the rise of something a little different, the UGC creator. A UGC creator is someone hired by a brand specifically to make content for their social pages and the content looks like it could be from a customer. And that content is then part of the marketing material and the overall marketing strategy for that company. Listen as I go through the Pros & Cons of both UGC Creator and Social Media Manager.
