Down Home Cajun Music- Leo Soileau Anthology 1928-1937Leo Soileau was one of the pioneer artists of recorded Cajun music. He was the first Cajun fiddler to record starting in 1928 and had a recording career that lasted until 1937. He made more than 100 recordings during these years and many of the later ones have not been reissued. Along his with Cajun recordings, Leo also recorded a lot of blues and some jazzy numbers. His influence is undeniable, as he influenced fiddlers like Dewey Balfa and Harry Choates. In his later recordings, he adapted with the times and recorded country, string band, blues, jazz and pop tunes.
