@iambillieleigh was born Megan Martin on August 18,1993 in North Wilkesboro, NC. She was raised in Clingman, NC and is the youngest of two children. Music was introduced to her at a very early age through church and tv. Singing was always something that she loved to do and as she got older she began to write also. Around the time she was entering high school is when she began writing and it was an awkward time in her life. She had trouble expressing herself and it seemed like writing was one of the only ways she could. Throughout high school she was in an audition choir called Madrigals all 4 years until graduation. She went to community college for a year or so, but says it wasn’t for her. Music was always something that she wanted to devote her time to, so she left college to get a job so she could afford studio time. She soon found out that she was expecting a little boy, who would be born in July 2014, with some lifelong health issues. After finally giving birth to her son and getting him squared away, landing a better job, and getting a good support system, she was finally able to locate a great studio in March 2017 and would go on to record her first single called "It Hurts to Be a Girl.“ From there she completed her 7 song EP called “As I Am,” which is on iTunes and Google Play. The EP officially released back in September.... She says: "When I feel like giving up, sometimes I will play one of my songs in my car and my son literally knows my songs by heart and that in itself tells me I have to keep going, This has been a lifelong dream and now that I have a small child I have to chase my dreams, so that one day he can chase his."
