[include file=get-in-itunes.html]I've been realizing recently JUST HOW important sleep is to our health and life. I'm being reminded of how a lack of sleep ages us more rapidly than we'd like. There's so much going on in regards to sleep that we could literally spend years studying it. Most of the time when we talk about sleep and how to get an even better sleep we speak about practices we can do every day and night to help in that process. There are lots of things we can do to improve our sleep. These include things like: * Reducing our exposure to blue light * Meditate or do yoga before bed * Read before bed * Get grounded during sleep * Open up windows to get fresh air * Turn off iphones or any wired devices during sleep * Don't bring work into the bedroom * Remove carpets to prevent toxins from outgasing * Wear socks to bed to keep our feet warm * Make sure our head faces true magnetic north * Use crystals underneath your box spring or mattress * Go to bed at the same time each night * Get adequate sunlight exposure through the eyes during the day * Waking up early and use your alarm to train yourself to be tired * And I'm sure there's many more... But did you notice what the missing component was for this entire list? And just to mention all of these things are basically mechanical. They're good practices but they don't get to the real reason why we're not sleeping. Do you want to know what the real reason is why we're not sleeping? The reason is poor organ health. It's much easier to change a few things about your daily habits than it is to really focus on making sure your thyroid, spleen, kidneys and adrenals are working properly. Your hormones are critical for making sure you sleep well. You want to make sure you secret melatonin and reduce cortisol levels. How do you do that? You do it by cleansing and detoxifying the body. Then you focus on rebuilding those organs using targeted nutrition. Can you start to see how this topic became much less sexy? It's because it's going to take a lot of work, effort and money on your part to get your internal organs working properly again. I've heard a lot of tips on how to sleep better but never anyone focusing primarily on proper organ health to improve sleep. I hope you enjoy this show it offers lots of amazing content so please pass this interview on to anybody you care about! After you listen, comment below and tell us what you think!
