In this episode, the first part of a double header, we are joined by Prof. David Guss, author of "The 21 Escapes of Lt. Alastair Cram". Lt Alastair Cram is an escape legend, holding the record for the highest number of escape attempts in the Second World War. Captured in the North African campaign, he was a thorn in the side of his captors, spending time in a number of different camps, including the "Italian Colditz" at Gavi, before eventually succeeding in his final escape effort towards the end of the war.
