Season 2 | Ep 18 | The Knee-High Man wants to get Sizeable

The Knee-High man took me back to school when I first heard the word Pygmy. I am not sure if I heard it in a good way, or did someone use it as an insult. You see, I didn't grow up beyond 5 feet. But that didn't stop me from winning a beauty pageant at 18! This story from the African-American tradition of stories has travelled with the people across the seas. I can see this story as a striving for basic human dignity, a stature that gives strength, leadership, dominance and perhaps respect.Itโ€™s a story about needs, wants and all that we want to be without knowing why!Listen to this one, told with a little tact and sensitivity, this one can open up conversations that are difficult to have. Listen to it & tell me what do you think!*****๐™‚๐™ค๐™ก๐™ฅ๐™ค: ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™จ ๐™›๐™ง๐™ค๐™ข ๐˜ผ๐™ง๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™๐™๐™š ๐™’๐™ค๐™ง๐™ก๐™™ ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™– ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ก๐™ก๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™จ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™˜๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™—๐™š ๐™จ๐™๐™–๐™ง๐™š๐™™ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ฎ๐™ฌ๐™๐™š๐™ง๐™š, ๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜พ๐™ก๐™–๐™จ๐™จ๐™ง๐™ค๐™ค๐™ข, ๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™‡๐™ž๐™ซ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™๐™ค๐™ค๐™ข ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™ค๐™–๐™ง๐™™๐™ง๐™ค๐™ค๐™ข. ๐™๐™๐™š ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™จ ๐™–๐™ง๐™š ๐™ข๐™š๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ž๐™œ๐™œ๐™š๐™ง ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™จ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ ๐™–๐™ข๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™š.Story Source | African American Folktales - Selected & Edited by Roger D. Golpo is the Bengali word for stories. It is a curious little word, both a verb and a noun at the same time. As a child Rituparna would insist on two stories and two songs every night. She would pretend to go off to sleep testing her parents to see if they'd finish the story they started to tell. When her grandmother told her stories she would kick her legs in the air fighting sleep before it wrapped her in. Golpo, the joy of oral storytelling returned to Rituparna's life as a mother. From a visual storyteller she discovered the magic of the spoken word all over again. Now a Performance Storyteller, Trainer, Consultant & Coach Rituparna is the Founder of ** *Your Story Bag* ( http://www.yourstorybag.com ) *.* Rituparna believes that stories bridge people & telling stories creates a shared experience. So whether you listen to these stories in the classroom, boardroom or living room, each of these stories will trigger conversations amongst people. Go ahead & try it out...
