Iris Molendijk - on dimmed down city and slow strolling

Iris is a lighting designer from the Netherlands who grew up in the countryside and this close connection to nature (and water, in particular) comes through the whole conversation. She sees herself as a slow passenger, noticing small details in a city, taking the time to stop and appreciate, sometimes unintentionally causing other curious people to stop too. Iris feels like Stockholm is a city that is lit in a way that makes people feel comfortable at night. However, the ideal night she would spend in a completely dark (or dimmed down) city that she imagined to be a case study in observing how little light we actually need. Being a lighting designer, she has also suggested two other ideal night options, strengthening the point of the need for choice and flexibility. If you fancy joining us for the conversation on the consequences/opportunities of having a completely dark city, join us at 19:30 (Stockholm, CET) tonight, March 17! https://www.joinclubhouse.com/event/MO6byy07 JOIN LIVE CONVERSATIONS WITH PODCAST GUESTS (that’s new!) https://www.joinclubhouse.com/club/a-city-for-you Support my project by sharing a word | Leave a comment https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/gorozhanin-горожанин/id1476738623 Or become a Patron https://www.patreon.com/gorozhanin --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/acityforyou/message

Om Podcasten

Casting light on citizens and their urban life through 5 simple questions. This is my way to connect citizens through sharing their stories. Why not dive into a pool of opinions and views on a city and artificial lighting, described by people from around the world? Next time you walk through your city, notice that every person passing by has their own story and you might hear it soon. acityforyou.wordpress.com
