#29: Natural Selection, Sexual Selection and the Evolution of Beauty

How do species change over time and why are we attracted to certain things? Today I and Professor Richard Prum get into Natural Selection, Sexual Selection and the Evolution of Beauty. We also get into sexual stuff like why the penis is the way it is and orgasms.  Richard is an evolutionary ornithologist, meaning he really know his birds and evolution. He has written the book The Evolution of Beauty in which he argues for Darwin’s long-neglected theory of sexual selection, in which the act of choosing a mate for purely aesthetic reasons – for the mere pleasure of it – is an independent engine of evolutionary change.
