This Saturday, Introductions welcomes pianist Eva Sharman of Lake Bluff, Illinois. A student of Tatyana Stepanova at Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, she presents music by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, Chaminade, and Prokofiev. Thanks to the Music Institute of Chicago for allowing us to record in Nichols Concert Hall. Eva Sharman, 17, is a junior at Lake Forest High School. She currently studies piano with Tatyana Stepanova. Most recently in 2021, Eva received an honorable mention in the Walgreens National Concerto Competition and won the Lake Forest High School Competition. Eva is an avid chamber musician, performing with her piano trio at local venues and competitions. Along with the other members of her trio, she served as a 2020 Rembrandt Young Artist and appeared on Introductions in July 2020. Her trio is currently coached by Tatyana Stepanova and Robert Bassill; some of her favorite chamber music masterclasses have been with the Cavani String Quartet, Gerardo Ribeiro, and Robert Hanford. In addition to piano, Eva also plays violin, including in the Midwest Young Artist Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and the Lake Forest High School Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Eva is a mentor for the Young Music Scholar Program at Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, a program that provides private instruction on string instruments to students from underserved communities.
