Charnwood stats: Total population: Just under 160,000 people live in the Borough of Charnwood of these 21,359 are between the ages of 10-19; 21,667 people are aged 20-29; there are 32,873 30-44 year olds (Rew just fits into this category!); between the ages of 45-59 there are 30,061 and 30,000 are 60+ years old. Ethnic grouping: Across the whole of Charnwood 91% are White; 1% have Dual Heritage: 6% are Asian; 0.5% are Black; which is the same percentage of those who are Chinese and also those who come under the “Other” category. Religious breakdown: A whopping 69% of people ticked “Christian” (but the majority of these will be nominal); 0.2% are Buddhist; whereas 3% are Hindu; only 0.1% are Jewish. 1.6% of those living in Charnwood are Muslim; 0.5% are Sikh, 0.3% ticked “Other” and a pretty large grouping (24%) would say they are ‘None religious’ or didn’t state what they are. Health & unpaid health care: Across Charnwood there are just over 23,000 living with “Long term limiting illnesses”, of these 10,000 are of working age; people with “not good” general health numbers just over 11 thousand people; and there is a big grouping of people (just over 15 thousand) who are providing unpaid care.
