Service mesh is a popular topic in Kubernetes. Service meshes provide visibility and observability into how container-based services communicate, and can perform other functions such as setting up and managing secure connections between services and monitoring performance. In today’s Kubernetes Unpacked podcast, we explore the concept of a service mesh and why you might want to run one in a Kubernetes cluster. While there are many service meshes to choose from, including Isitio, Consul Connect, Cilium Service Mesh, and more, we focus on Linkerd. Linkerd is available under an Apache 2.0 license and hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). My guest is Donald Lutz, Senior Cloud and Software Architect. Donald’s also writing a book on Linkerd for Packt.
