When we have to play a jazz solo, we are making musical choices in the moment.
What will determine whether we play a great jazz solo is the quality of those musical choices, and also how fast we are able to come up with them.
And this all starts with effective practice. That's how we learn to make great musical choices.
So on today's show, I have a very special guest, Dani Rabin from the prog jazz-rock band Marbin, to talk all about that, his philosophy behind learning jazz improvisation, his philosophy behind effective practice and making great musical choices.

1. How Marbin got started and became a world touring band
2. Dani's definition of practicing jazz improvisation
3. The power of reduction, induction and deduction
4. Dani's definition of music theory and scales
5. Growing from feeling unsatisfied with your playing
