163: Italy's Island Made of Human Ash: The Haunting of Poveglia

“Droves of plague victims were cremated on Poveglia Island to the point where 50% of the topsoil is now human ash. Through the Black Death and countless criminal executions, hundreds of thousands of bodies were burned and scattered along its 17 acres. If that wasn't enough of a recipe for the paranormal to fester, the old plague hospital was then converted into an insane asylum where doctors took creative liberties when "treating" their patients. And today, the island is unsurprisingly a paranormal hotspot.”
