This week on the Live to Walk Again we dive into a couple of interesting Spinal Cord Injury research articles that caught our eye. The first one is based on a study out of the University of Wisconsin–Madison where researchers are mapping out the human hindbrain and using that to create specialized neuronal cells to mimic the cells at the level of a spinal cord injury. This study also could have long-lasting impacts on a wide range of neurological disabilities like MS, muscular dystrophy, and ALS. The second study is out of Texas A&M University and is a multidisciplinary research study between Texas A&M school of medicine and Texas A&M AgriLife using an HIV peptide that is accepted by most cells in the human body and attaching a protein concoction that will latch on to the peptide and cross into the cell's nucleus where it can be reprogrammed. This study could also have far-reaching effects on repairing correlation damaged joints or even administering cancer drugs to pinpointed areas of the body. We also chatted about our friends adamant Taylor and the Dallas Cowboys of the National Wheelchair Football League and their upcoming tournament this weekend in Salt Lake City!!
