Episode 120 - The Need for the Ecstatic

This episode begins with Michael Meade answering the question: “Why do you typically end a public event with the ecstatic poetry of Rumi and Hafiz?”  Part of the answer involves the natural human longing for the Divine, the greater need for the ecstatic in a world gone wrong and the necessity of love.

The greater answer becomes both a treatise on the meaning of the ecstatic and a tour through the heavens and earth as seen through the eyes of the ecstatic poets.  Getting out of our static state and fixed attitudes about life can lead to a state of “reckless abandon” that makes life more immediate, more present, and more joyous.
