Michael Meade explores the difference between sight and vision, suggesting that as our sight diminishes with age we can gain a deeper way of seeing the world. Weaving together song and poetry, humor and anecdotes, Meade addresses how the loss of soul and vision in modern culture also includes the loss of music and language as a sustaining force, a loss felt acutely among youth. Youth are the song trying to be born into the world and the intelligence and vision of the next generation. When a culture loses sight of this, they lose out on essential wisdom and vital voice of renewal.
