This episode begins with ideas of “anti-natalism” and a growing sense amongst some people that children should not be brought into such a troubled world.  After tracing the effects of nihilism on contemporary politics and in the fatalistic predictions of science, Michael Meade turns to an ancient story from India to help awaken the deep sense of self and soul that secretly relates each person to all the beings in nature, but also to the divine. Far from any idea of withdrawing from life or refusing to give birth to new lives, we end up in an ancient story where humans can be seen to have a specific role as agents of the ongoing creation of the world.
