On our website there is an embedded video above and an audio player at the bottom of the page WINTER IS COMING If one week was chosen to define the year, this past week would be a leading candidate. In fact, the entire month probably deserves our vote. November may have felt like the crescendo but we still must await the coda, and as the holiday season approaches recent market “misbehavior” will likely put investors on the naughty list. Stocks, bonds, and everything but the dollar soared higher this week on barely a “ho ho ho” from Santa Powell. Tis’ the season to be merry and the bulls have plenty to be thankful for this year, but the bears can feel it in their bones … winter is coming. The Dollar Milkshake Theory, an idea created by Brent Johnson of Santiago Capital to explain the role of the US Dollar in the global monetary system, is a reference to the infamous milkshake scene in the movie “There Will Be Blood”. The clever narrative, like all good tales, has taken on a life of its own, and just like the movie from which it credits its name, the “theory” has also attracted its share of haters. Brent takes it all in stride and finds humor in the drama. Particularly that which occurs on Twitter, where he is a well-known antagonist and where most financial debates congregate nowadays. So, Brent and his friend Jon Kutsmeda decided to share some of the social madness on a weekly show, while bringing some much needed perspective to the financial debate.
