Prehistoric animals pooped out mushroom spores as far back as 23,000 years ago and we are now today finding them and learning about what life was like back then. Peat bogs, the bottom of lakes, frozen areas, and amber are all hotspots to find these spores which can even tell us about biodiversity, and when and why mass extinction events happened.
