February 25, 2023 - National Heart Month | National Clam Chowder Day

Celebrate Every Day - En podcast af Q1 Network

Welcome to February 25, 2023 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate healthy hearts and avoiding the heat in the kitchen. Valentine's Day has come and gone, but there’s still time to celebrate someone who deserves your attention: you! February is National Heart Month and this is the perfect time to take a few small steps that can make a big impact. Speaking of steps, it takes as little as 30 minutes of exercise, five times per week to jumpstart your overall well being. Learning about heart healthy foods can help you celebrate every day because even swapping out some of the junk for delicious healthy food can make a world of difference. The key is understanding that your small positive choices add up and believing that you are worth it! If you are ordering clam chowder today you might want to take note of where you’re dining. If you happen to be in New York, for example, don’t even think about ordering the cream based kind. You see Boston and New York have a rivalry that dates back to the days of colonization, and this extends to the world of soup. New England clam chowder is a rich, cream based soup made with potatoes, onions, and pork fat. The Manhattan version is tomato based. They are equally delicious, but don't tell that to any New Englanders. The region is so against the Manhattan recipe that someone once introduced a bill in the Maine legislature to ban the use of tomatoes in chowder. On National Clam Chowder Day, enjoy a delicious bowl of this seafood favorite, but watch out for the hot controversy. I’m Anna Devere and I’m Marlo Anderson.
