Abi Okegbile, Community Learning Disability Nursing Associate
In this episode Laura talks with Abi Okegbile who is a Community Learning Disability Nursing Associate. Abi discusses her career prior to starting as a student Nursing Associate. She outlines the academic challenges of the course and how she overcame her anxieties. Previously Abi was a community support worker for people with profound learning disabilities, however she had never worked in the NHS before. She talks about the challenges she faced whilst on placement and the clinical skills she has developed whilst on different placements. Abi gives an insight into her role as a Community Learning Disability nursing associate and tells listeners why she is so passionate about LD nursing. Abi talks about the continuing professional development she has done since qualifying and shares her career goals for the future.
