This Black History Month and Valentines' Day, I want to put the spotlight on something that's very important to me, Black Maternal Health. We're releasing two episodes today, dedicated that very topic. Maternal health has long been a concern in America for women of all color.  The CDC has found that about 700 women die from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. Every year, however, black women fare the worst dying two and a half times more often than white or hispanic women. Part 2 is the story of Tara Eudovique. Tara is a 44 year old flight attendant and entrepreneur who is the mother of a spirited and talented three year old. Her story is a cautionary tale for women everywhere, especially for women of color. After being single for many years and being asked why, she finally found her Prince Charming and together they decided to marry and start planning their family. Looking forward to the delivery of her rainbow baby, Tara and her husband entered the hospital anticipating what should have been the happiest moment of their lives, but instead found themselves in a nightmare. We'll talk about her delivery trauma and how she's turned her experience into a passion for helping women of color find their voices throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.
