It’s a confusing time to work out what a woman over 40 is supposed to look like. Last week, two magazine covers were released. One with 56yo former supermodel Linda Evangelista showing how she’d been ‘disfigured’ by cosmetic surgery that was meant to make her look younger and thinner and one with Oscar nominee Nicole Kidman dressed like a schoolgirl. No wonder we’re confused. You can see both covers here. Which is why this week on No Filter, Mia is joined by former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia and author, Kirstie Clements, to talk about the perplexing business of women getting older. And just a note, this is not a conversation about women looking ‘good’ for their age - and it’s not about shaming women. It’s a respectful conversation where two women in their 50s try to make sense of the mixed messages we’re getting from popular culture… THE END BITS: With thanks to Kirstie Clements.
