Episode 12: Whitewashing (with Louis Rive)

This episode features special guest Louis Rive, a singer-songwriter from Glasgow Scotland who has composed several protest tunes. We specifically discuss three of the songs that he wrote and the motivation behind them. We also discuss how the content of his music took a shift with the current political climate and why he feels it is important for artists to use their platform to speak out on issues.

This podcast is a companion to the website ongoinghistoryofprotestsongs.com. I started the website on December 6, 2017. Not only have I always been a passionate music fan, but I have always had an interest in the historical developments of music. An important part of that history is the integral role that music has played within social movements. I have always been drawn to music with a socially conscious message.
