In this episode we chat to Andy Delderfield, who's recently completed an ice ultra marathon in Sweden! We're Sharon and Ben, two normal people who decided to give up alcohol to see how our lives would change. We're not medical experts but we are expert ex-drinkers, and our podcast brings people together who are on their own alcohol-free journeys by celebrating just how wonderful life without booze can be! Sharon has known Andy for a long time, and has seen him completely change both physically and mentally since his early days of sobriety. Andy talks about being an ex-pat in Spain and how for a long time he didn't realise how dark his drinking had become - he uses the analogy of climbing outside the jar, and how you can only see what's inside once you're out of it. Andy has done some amazing things since going alcohol free, running marathons across the globe (as soon as restrictions allowed him to) and of course, completing an epic ultra marathon in freezing cold Scandinavian temperatures! In this conversation we dig in to his motivation for tackling such incredible feats, and how it feels when he's out there... Could he ever have achieved what he has done if he hadn't given up alcohol?
