In the first episode of ParaPower Mapping, we introduce the topics of this initial series: a secret history of the occult in colonial New England, the influence of fraternal secret societies on the Sons of Liberty/ American independence movement, and the formation of the Massachusetts mercantile & textile dynasties that would wield considerable power and influence over American affairs—whether at home or abroad—in the early days of the republic and the lead up to the Civil War. Over the course of the next 100 minutes, we'll embark on a psychogeographic tour of downtown Boston, exploring the United States' sus origins through famous landmarks and haunted locales, such as the Green Dragon Tavern, the Union Oyster House, the Boston Massacre Site, the Parker House hotel, and King's Chapel Burying Ground. We'll discover the outsized importance that some of these sites had for the power elite of their day, numerous uncanny synchronicities linking some of the darkest moments of American history (from the Salem Witchcraft Trials all the way to 11/22/63 and the assassination of JFK), and all kinds of unexpected weirdness along the way. We'll learn how the Parker House, the longest running hotel in the United States, not only hosted John Wilkes Booth and his brother Edwin 8 days prior to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, but was also where Ho Chi Minh learned to bake and Malcolm X worked as a busboy as a young adult...  Not to mention where John F. Kennedy delivered his first "speech" as a little boy, later held his bachelor party, and even announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.  Sources:  Heaven, By Hotel Standards: The History of the Omni Parker House, 2nd Edition—Susan Wilson  Omni Parker House: A Brief History ~ https://web.archive.org/web/20121015123231/http://www.omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/~/media/Images/hotels/bospar/pdf/bospar_history%20book%20pages%20pdf.ashx  Caleb Cushing Papers: Finding Aid from Library of Congress— https://findingaids.loc.gov/exist_collections/ead3pdf/mss/2000/ms000002.pdf Salem Witch Museum: King’s Chapel Burying Ground— https://salemwitchmuseum.com/locations/kings-chapel-burying-ground/  Salem Witch Museum: Artists and the Witch Trials— https://salemwitchmuseum.com/online-exhibit/  Old Corner Bookstore: The Freedom Trail Website— https://www.thefreedomtrail.org/trail-sites/old-corner-bookstore  King’s Chapel and King’s Chapel Burying Ground— https://www.thefreedomtrail.org/trail-sites/kings-chapel-kings-chapel-burying-ground  Boston Common: https://www.thefreedomtrail.org/trail-sites/boston-common  Ghosts of Boston: Haunts of the Hub— Sam Baltrusis  Secret Societies of America’s Elite—Steven Sora  Caleb Cushing wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caleb_Cushing  Saturday Club wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Club_(Boston,_Massachusetts)  James Russell Lowell wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Russell_Lowell  Lowell Family wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowell_family  Francis Cabot Lowell wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Cabot_Lowell  Boston Brahmin wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Brahmin  Boston and the Parker house; a chronicle of those who have lived on that historic spot where the new Parker house now stands in Boston— James W.
