Shoftim 5781 - Access to the Law This week we hear about the mandate to appoint magistrates and police "in all your gates". Why does the Law need to be local? Why does the Torah want every person to have access to courts of Justice? And yet, our parasha also legislates the Supreme Court which sits at a remove from the common people, in the Temple compound.
