Afro·Theo·Futurism

“Afro·Theo·Futurism” - Imagining a theology and ecclesiology from a Black perspective in a future of possibility and abundance.  The past few years have brought the church to a critical moment where so many of us are looking at what ‘church’ has been and trying to determine what the Church should be. In this episode Brea Perry returns as she and Jemar address some of the historic issues within the church while imagining where we could go from here. While practicing a form of ‘Afrotheofuturism’, they ask explore questions like: What would it mean for us to purge classism and ableism from our churches? Why must the American church wait on the government/community to start enacting reparations now? Jesus identified with the most marginalized in society. What does it mean that the most marginalized in our own society don’t feel welcome in our places of worship?  Support this podcast at patreon.com/PassTheMic Learn more about your ad choices.
