Drs. Butler and Sommer discussed the four papers that make up this mini-series, shared inspiring stories of black plastic surgeons and women plastic surgeons who succeeded despite the barriers placed before them, discussed the systemic biases that lead to a lack of diversity, the importance of informal mentorship, how we might go about both increasing diversity in our specialty, and encouraging surgeons to give back to their communities.
