Ramblings of a Designer ep. 121 - Trip O'Dell

Trip's work leading design at companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, and Amazon has touched the lives people around the world. His past work includes the design of video games for the Chicago Field Museum, childhood health initiatives for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, vehicular interfaces at Audible, IOT, Shopping, communications and voice Skills for Amazon Alexa, revolutionizing online learning, scaling the service design for Amazon's 'last mile' delivery experience from a 2-city pilot to an $11.5 billion global logistics system delivering over 2 billion packages globally, in just 18 months. Before his career in tech, Trip was a teacher and school technologist. He entered the classroom, and later the field of design because of his experience with growing up dyslexic. His experience of being marginalized not only shaped his instincts as a designer, but he attributes his success to his “dyslexic superpowers”; and how his different brain and an “outside in” approach led to the fundamentally inclusive, accessible, broad, and innovative work reflected in his portfolio and used by billions of times around the world every day.
