Beating Cancer to Flipping Houses- Brenna Leigh #09

Brenna is a 29 year old real estate investor based out of Boston, MA. Before she was ever remotely involved in real estate, however, she worked at her local news station and as a nanny on the side. And the idea of ever becoming a Realtor repulsed her to the core.  However, all that changed after she beat Stage 4B Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer. She had a sort of awakening, that she was meant for more in this world. She figured that life could be greater than juggling three jobs, being on someone else’s time, and making a total of $12 an hour. During this time was also when she entertained the idea of becoming a Realtor (thanks to her older neighbor who showed her the ropes) and as of 2019, she has since then transitioned full time into real estate. And it would be an understatement to say that her progress has taken off at lightning speed.   Up to date, Brenna is House Hacking where she currently lives, has one flip under her belt, is on track to flip another three properties (one in state and two out of state), and works full time as a Realtor. Being prone to analysis paralysis, an additional goal Brenna has for herself is to improve her delegation skills as well as learning to let go of every single detail within her investments and career.  Highlights and lessons learned from Brenna: 1) Turn off the media and take action. Podcasts, videos, social media, audiobooks (and regular books) are all great for your education and discernment of where you want to go and what you want to do within real estate. However, there comes a point in your journey, like Brenna explains, that you just have to turn that stuff off and focus on the task at hand. Once you narrow down your strategy and plan of action, just go ahead and do it. In this phase of your deal, by listening to other opinions and strategies, you’ll be more likely to be swayed into a different direction and that will only hinder your success at the present moment. Education is great, but know when to turn it off.
