David Grabiner is what is known as a “Third Culture Kid,” meaning they’ve lived in a culture different than their parents’ and lived much of their developmental years in a different environment as well. In David’s case, he was born in the United States and then did much of his schooling in Africa, and then went to college in Chattanooga, Tennessee. David, shortly after graduating, would then return to Africa to help his wife’s family with their hospital’s administrative side of things, given he did just graduate with an MBA. And it was at this point he discovered Mr. Money Mustache and began to think about financial independence. For his first deal, he partnered with his father and within three years, achieved financial independence. And that’s where we meet David in this episode. Up to date, David owns 170 units along with three commercial buildings totalling over $26M in value. He started his own asset management company and is also self managing his commercial properties. He’s currently accepting accredited investors looking to invest a minimum of $100K and is growing his Homeless to Homeowner affordable housing program. He’s on track to surpass his goal of $20M in real estate acquisitions this year and shares his knowledge on social media.
