Jodie Fox On Learning From Triumph and Failure

The higher the height, the greater the fall - or so they say. Jodie Fox has seen the business world from a dizzying height. Her footwear empire Shoes Of Prey – a fashion technology empire which customised every single pair of shoes that was delivered - raised over $35 million Australian dollars in venture capital. At their peak they had over 220 employees, and their store in Australian department store David Jones did double its forecasted revenue in the first 12 months, becoming the highest earner per square meter on the shoe floor. It was a runaway success. But in August 2018, the founders closed company after sales-growth didn’t match the pace needed for further investment. Jodie went on to write a brilliant book entitled Reboot: Probably More Than You Ever Wanted to Know about Starting a Global Business. She shared vulnerably and openly about her successes and her failures - and in this conversation, we ask all the nitty gritty questions about how the self-confessed ‘alpha girl’ has tackled identity, purpose, and her newest role - motherhood. Whether you’re interested in building a business, in leadership styles, in the lows and whys of moving internationally, or you’re just looking for a hell of a story, strap in for this raw and honest ride as we talk shoes, shame, and oversharing.  Purchase Reboot Probably More Than You Ever Wanted to Know about Starting a Global Business. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
