Russian oligarchs – the story behind the sanctions

Sky News Daily - En podcast af Sky News

The UK government has been accused of not going far enough when it imposed sanctions against five Russian banks and three individuals. It made the move after President Putin declared two areas of eastern Ukraine as "independent" and moved troops into the region. Labour said the sanctions were "very little, too late" but ministers promised more would follow if there was a "full-scale invasion". The three men who are subject to the sanctions have been dubbed as Putin's "cronies". On the Sky News Daily podcast, Kate McCann talks to Sky News home affairs reporter David Mercer who's been researching the trio. Then, author Oliver Bullough talks about the billions of pounds of Russian money in the UK financial system – and what the impact of the sanctions could be.
