Ukraine war: The survivors of sexual violence and the women helping them

Sky News Daily - En podcast af Sky News

Stories of sexual violence against Ukrainians in Russian-occupied areas have been slowly emerging since the start of the full-scale invasion last February. At least 154 cases of conflict-related sexual violence - classified as a war crime and a crime against humanity - have been officially identified, although experts believe the real figure is significantly higher. On the Sky News Daily, Anna Jones is joined by Alisa Kovalenko, a documentary filmmaker and survivor of sexual assault at the hands of a Russian officer. She also talks to Anna Orel, who works for the Andreev Foundation - partnered with Women for Women International - on why offering support, and recording survivors' stories, is so important. Warning: This episode contains discussion of rape, sexual violence and suicide from the start.
