Rich Maloney is the head baseball coach at Ball State University. In 2023, he led his team to a Mid-American conference championship and reached the NCAA Regionals. As a player, Maloney was selected in the 13th round of the 1986 MLB Amateur Draft by the Atlanta Braves and played six seasons in the Braves organization before retiring after reaching AA in 1991.  Maloney began his head coaching career at Ball State from 1996-2001 and then went to Michigan to coach the Wolverines from 2003-2012. In 2013, he returned to Ball State, where he remains as a coach today.
