Florida Highwaymen

Steel Magnolias Podcast - En podcast af Laura Beth Peters and Lainie Stubblefield - Tirsdage

Beginning in the 1950s, a group of mostly self-taught African American artists devoted themselves to capturing Florida’s natural landscapes and without acceptance into southern art galleries, the group of about 26 artists sold their art out of their cars along the highways. We are paying respect to such an inventive group by discussing their stories! Gary Monroe, a working artist and Florida native, has captured many of the works in these books:  The Highwaymen: Florida’s African-American Landscape Painters: https://amzn.to/3lD9Ndr The Highwaymen Murals: Al Black’s Concrete Dreams: https://amzn.to/3iTNMFu ******************************************* If you’d like to join our Patreon Community to support us monthly for perks and exclusive content check out https://www.patreon.com/steelmagnolias   Places to Connect: Sign up for mailing list HERE  https://mailchi.mp/e3cef217a5e7/sweetnews Instagram: @SteelMagnoliasPodcast Private Facebook Group: https://bit.ly/32Kna4T         Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/steel-magnolias-podcast/donations
