The trial of Robert Durst for the 2000 murder of Susan Berman opened in Los Angeles on Wednesday. In Virginia, a NASA employee is charged with murder after allegedly shooting his next door neighbor, following a long-standing dispute. Finally, in Louisiana, federal judges are hearing the appeal of Thomas Steven Sanders, a death row inmate who admitted to the 2010 murders of a 12-year-old girl and her mother. Sanders is appealing his conviction and his sentence on the grounds that he was not mentally competent to stand trial.
