You build up the business, you embed yourself in the market and then one of the biggest real estate asset managers in the world not only wants to acquire you, but does so for over $1bn. This is what happened to alternative investment management software provider eFront in May when BlackRock paid $1.3bn to acquire the Paris-based firm.
